Shatila Vocational Training Centre was a proposition made to tackle the main factors that restrict the improvement of quality of life for residents of Shatila, the Palestinian Refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon.

Lack of opportunities in employment and education, mean inhabitants have no way to actively progress in their daily lives. This programme provides them with the tools and skills to not only find gainful employment but also make drastic changes to their existing living conditions, hence increasing morale

​

Existing successful vocational programmes teaching secretarial skills to women sets a precedent for the system. It enables them to help themselves and find ‘relief from relief’.
